Restored haint blue porch — Green Terra Construction historic renovation in New Orleans

Our Story

Founded with Purpose

A licensed general contractor in New Orleans built on 30+ years of expertise, a commitment to craftsmanship, and a standard worth standing behind.

Green Terra Construction was built on a belief that the construction industry deserves a higher standard — and that clients deserve to experience it. Rey Rivas founded GTC alongside his father Esteban, combining formal business training with over 30 years of hands-on construction expertise across Louisiana and Texas. What started as a father-and-son operation has grown into one of Greater New Orleans' most trusted general contracting companies.

Since day one, they've worked side by side — Rey leading business strategy, client relationships, and company growth; Esteban bringing decades of mastery across schools, hospitals, restaurants, custom homes, historic renovations, and commercial buildouts. Together, they built a company around a standard worth standing behind.

Every project we complete reflects our reputation. That's why we approach every scope — from a kitchen remodel to a full historic restoration — with the same discipline, transparency, and craftsmanship. We call it the GREEN Way. And it drives everything we do.

"We didn't just put GREEN in our name — we built a standard around it. And TERRA is the foundation we build on. We build structures that last, withstand weather, and sit healthy on the ground they stand on."

Our Mission

Building Right.
Building GREEN.

We built a company around our name. Sustainability at Green Terra Construction isn't a label — it's how we think. It's a commitment to building responsibly — preserving what history gave us, protecting the resources we're given, and constructing with the long-term health of people, structures, and communities in mind — and paying attention to the lasting impact of every decision we make in the built environment. TERRA is the foundation we build on. We build structures that last, withstand weather, and sit healthy on the ground they stand on. Growth, Reliability, Efficiency, Ethics, and Network aren't just values — they're how we deliver on every project. Building right. Building GREEN.

Leadership

Meet the Team

Rey Rivas, President of Green Terra Construction, licensed general contractor in New Orleans
Rey Rivas
President

Rey leads Green Terra Construction, a licensed commercial and residential general contractor serving the Greater New Orleans area. With a career spanning interior commercial buildouts, restaurants, additions, custom homes, historic renovations, and work inside the original MSY airport — and a zero-incident safety record over more than a decade — Rey brings proven field leadership alongside formal business training. A graduate of Tulane University's School of Architecture with a Master of Sustainable Real Estate Development and the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program, he holds OSHA-30 and GPRO certifications and is currently pursuing his Certified Construction Manager (CCM) and Project Management Professional (PMP) designations. Fluent in English and Spanish, Rey has built a proactive, bilingual safety culture across every GTC jobsite. He serves on the board of the Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans — where he was named Rookie of the Year — and is actively involved with the National Association of Home Builders, reflecting his commitment to advancing the construction industry beyond his own company. From estimating and project planning to long-term company growth, Rey is focused on delivering at the highest level — for clients, for the team, and for the communities GTC serves. His vision for Green Terra goes beyond general contracting — it's about setting a new standard for how construction companies operate, communicate, and deliver results. Building right. Building GREEN.

Esteban Rivas, Operations Manager at Green Terra Construction, over 30 years of construction experience
Esteban Rivas
Operations Manager

Esteban brings over 30 years of construction experience to Green Terra Construction and is the building expertise behind every GTC project. His career spans Louisiana and Texas, with hands-on involvement in schools, hospitals, restaurants, shopping centers, tenant improvements, ground-up new construction, and historic renovations — across both commercial and residential scopes. OSHA-10 certified, his mastery of the trade runs from structural work and framing to finish carpentry and final detail — setting the quality standard Green Terra Construction is built on. As Operations Manager, Esteban oversees field operations, crew management, and quality control across the Greater New Orleans area, ensuring that what gets promised in the office gets delivered on the jobsite. His depth of experience is the reason GTC takes on complex scopes with confidence — and his craftsmanship is what clients see in the finished product.
